Indeed, the newspaper* has published a letter by Mrs Ong-Ang Ai Boon, the director of ABS (The Association of Banks in Singapore) that the email is hoax. See below excerpt.

" ABS would like to clarify that When you key your password in reverse order, (i) the police would not be noticied; and (ii) no cash would be dispensed."

* Wo Bao - free daily chinese newspp circulated in the morning at various MRTs islandwide, pg 16 right lower corner
