Beatitudes

Blessed is a very Christian word but wat does it really mean? many people in the world use it to signify those who are lucky , happy and successful.

but Jesus describes very differently....

Now when he saw the crowds , he went up on a mountain side and sat down . His disciples came to him and he began to teach them , saying:

' Blessed are the poor in spirit , for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven,

Blessed are those who mourn , for they will be comforted,

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Blessed are the peace makers, for they will be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.'

~ Mat 5: 1-12

... i rem one thing that hit me hard when a brother in my cell group shared with us that how can you tell if someone is pure in heart...is by looking at the person's behavior when he/she treats the waiter or those who are serving them. ...or how they treat their parents...out of abundance of the heart , the actions speak itself...how true....sometimes one can also see the parents's shadow from the actions of their children also...no offense...

...if you ask how realistic for me as a christian to try to live like that...to consider myself blessed for such as these...i have to admit it is not easy...esp by my own strength...but by God's strength and His abundant grace...we try...christians are not saints hor...we arent holy also...else we reach heaven oredi...however we are still on earth...
