The King and I

I promised a review on " The King and I" musical by Rodgers & Hammerstein masterpiece,
It was based on Margaret Landon's 1944 novel Anna and the King of Siam that was based on Anna's own autobiographical story - considered historically questionable by some sources. Controversy has arisen over the historical accuracy of the film and its depiction of the King, leading to the film's recent banning in Thailand.
my review>: i personally enjoyed the show more than the Phantom ...maybe becoz of seats...i bought circle seats , though cheaper in price ...i can see the whole stage better than stall seats ...hence enjoyed the show tremendously...i thot the story is similar to the movie "ANNA and the King"...it was not....the king in the musical eventually passed away...
Music, songs : Good , Enjoyable
Cast: i feel the men sang better than the ladies, i quite enjoyed the runaway couple who sang..they sang well...
Props: not as fantastic as phantom but culturally and colourful by sight and sound
Overall: i like it!!!
of cos many who watched the show would be more culturally aware of thailand 's history (Siam) AND her King (King Mongkut) and be entertained by the King's two most familiar refrains and phrases are: "Hah," and: Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera and so forth.
however there are facts and fiction to the musical :
see whether you can answer correctly
1) anna was the governess invited by the King to tutor his children
2) She was a widow
3) she had romantic link with the king
4)The king was an intelligent person , particularly interested in science
5) He was open to religion freedom
6) Anna's son 's name was Louis
7)Thai worshipped the White Elephant
