Do Schools kill creativity?

Listen to 15 mins of his sharing by Sir Ken Robinson from UK as he makes an entertaining and profoundly moving case for creating an education system that nurtures (rather than undermines) creativity.
he makes a few interesting insights about education and creativity...and he emphasizes about treating CReativity SERIOUSLY...
mentioned that helping your child to learn to dance is AS IMPORTANT AS his maths and science
about BEing FRIGHTENED BEING WRONG
he talked about educators around the world are just trying to produce
Professors (PEOPLE WITH BRAINS But No Creativity?)
NOW he advised for the next 30 yrs, more people will be graduating with degrees,
degrees wont worth anything
he defines CREATIVITY: interaction of interdisciplinary ways of seeing things
shares about a girl with ADHD, how someone else saw the potential in this girl , NOT in academics but in dance...
my takeaway thots: for myself, i was brought up in an education system where results and academics are deemed most important...
it is only when you are the best , then can you try other things such as art, dance, music...
i think NOW we as educators, as parents, got to reset our mindset about how we teach and how we would help our kids to learn as well , dun limit how they learn,
they may not be good in academics, but may be in other things...singing..dance..
DUN LIMIT THEIR POTENTIAL BY BOXING THEM UP...
with all that , all sorts of things in our education system needs to change...
the stigma of NT, NA, ITE,IP, Elitism
hearing all that, inspired me to go and improve my "creativity" juices...
i wanna go learn korean
learn how to do a mosaic art piece
learn to do pottery
learn .....ahhh
